Basketball Betting Strategy

Developing a successful basketball betting strategy is one of the most interesting parts of basketball betting. Betting NBA and college basketball is different than betting NFL or college football and coming up with a good basketball betting strategy takes time, but it is well worth the effort.

Before we get to a general basketball betting strategy let me point out that betting NBA and college basketball is very different than betting pro or college football. With football you have games every week, with basketball you have games every night. This presents us with advantages and disadvantages. The advantages to us are that we have many more games to choose from on the betting board, and a lot more opportunities for profit. The disadvantages run along the same line. With more games to choose from and to bet, we can easily lose more money.

The first thing to remember when coming up with a basketball betting strategy is not to be overwhelmed with the number of games on the board. Between the NBA and college basketball, there are over 100 games on a busy Saturday, and that is just one day. During a normal week you are going to have over three or four hundred games to choose from, and that does not even include totals. You might not see that many games in an entire month during the football season. We need to definitely narrow our focus when coming up with a basketball betting strategy. You could choose just to focus on betting the NBA. You could break that down further to concentrate specifically on just sides, or just totals. You can be a college basketball specialist and get really specific and bet only one or two conferences. You might want to play just first halves, or halftimes. When you decide upon your course of action you next need to get the resources to make your basketball betting strategy a success. If you are going to focus on college basketball, then you want to read and study as much as possible about the conference you choose to bet. If you want to keep an open eye out for all the games, then you want to familiarize yourself with the top 20, power ratings, and general line movement.

When you decide upon a general basketball betting strategy, try and keep a couple of things in mind. You need to be disciplined. You need to limit your number of plays. Set aside a bankroll specifically for your college basketball betting. Preferably keep all of your plays the same amount. Read and study as much as possible about your selected sport, and if possible, watch as many games as you can. If you can take some of these things and incorporate them into your basketball betting strategy, you have a chance to make a profit.
