Analyzing Baseball Road Trips

The sports betting players that separate themselves as being among the best at sports handicapping baseball games do not necessarily look at a potential baseball team to wager on for a particular day but, rather, they look ahead on the team’s schedule for several games to see what that team in question will be facing. This is particularly true of sports betting players that are sports handicapping a baseball team about to embark on a multi-series, multi-city road trip. Effective sports betting players will attempt to analyze how such a team will do on these trips by analyzing not just the opposition, but also the likelihood of sweeps, streaks or slumps for the team in question. Many online sports betting websites offer schedules for all major league teams as sports handicapping tools for the sports betting players that visit or make spots betting wagers at their sites.

Tom, a long time veteran Las Vegas sports betting player and baseball bettor will simply try and analyze if he thinks that a team will get swept in a series of three or more games on the road. If he doesn’t think that will occur, he will bet on that team to win just one game of their series on the road and once they do, he will wait for the next series.

“If I can get a strong baseball team on the road I have the potential for great value against the (sports betting odds),” Tom said. “What I want to do is check on their opponents as far as their strengths, weaknesses, and the likely pitching matchups. In addition to that I will (sports handicap) the past few games of BOTH teams to get a gauge on current performance trends and to verify if a team is going well or not.”

One of the most important factors for a sports betting player to take into account when analyzing a baseball team on the road is if they are compatible with the stadium of the home team. Dodger Stadium, for example, is not anything close to a hitter’s park and a baseball team that is used to playing at a home run friendly home stadium, (such as Colorado’s Coors Field), may not fare well and be a good sports betting wager there. On the other hand, poor offensive teams may not have enough even to succeed at a place such as Coors Field and the sports betting odds would not offer any more of an edge on such teams. Sports handicapping the pitching, past performance, current streaks, past road history and overall talent are the best guides on whether a team is a good risk against the sports betting odds when on the road.
