What Team Will Have the Intensity to Win?

By Tom Wilkinson

Many times a sports bettor can uncover sports betting situations that are obvious in their disproportionate amount of potential intensity within the matchup.

Let’s take a situation that often arises in college football. Team A is coming off an incredible upset over a traditional powerhouse and now must play one of the weaker teams within their conference that hasn’t impressed anyone and yet isn’t exactly getting blown out every week. Team A is ripe for a let down. If team A won that thrilling upset as a home dog against the odds and sports betting line they simply cannot possibly play with the same motivation and intensity on the road at a half packed stadium of a weak sister team and may likely by a prime suspect for a let down and potential loss to the sports odds.

Let’s also take a look at a situation in which a football team is losing frequently against the pointspread and has well reported stories about locker room dissention and the likelihood that the coach will be gassed at season’s end. What possible motivation and intensity factor could this team bring to the table when sports handicapping this sports betting scenario? Not much, unless they are playing a traditional rival.

Home underdogs to the odds are prime motivation and intensity candidates when sports handicapping their games. One of the better sports betting systems is the “Monday Night Home Dog Theory” in pro football that has beaten the online sportsbooks and casino sportsbooks often through the years. College basketball and football teams are often “waiting in the bushes” and are good live dogs against the odds and sports betting line if the number is relatively small. The combination of their likely motivation, a good home crowd, and close relative strengths of the two teams make these good sports betting candidates.

Large home dogs against the sports odds, however, are not nearly as reliable sports wagers as such teams often prove to be too weak to hang in there versus strong opposition.
